Brightlingsea Regent make the short journey to face Maldon & Tiptree tomorrow in a local derby for their latest league game. The 33rd game of the season at Maldon & Tiptree who have links with Colchester United this season sees the two sides meet in the return fixture after Regent won the game at North Road 1-0 with a Luke Read goal being enough to gain the three points in a tight game.
The Manager at the time for Maldon, David Wright has since left the club to become Colchester United Assistant Manager and this was the second Manager the Jammers have lost to League football after Kevin Watson left to become Assistant Manager at League 2 Stevenage, a job he has recently left.
The new Manager is Steve Ball who has previously won the Ryman League North title as Assistant Manager at Leiston, a club he later went on to Manage. The new Manager has made some notable additions to the squad since joining with Sam Newson from Needham Market and Joe Francis from Leiston joining and in the past 48 hours has added three more signings with Curtis Haynes-Brown from Macclesfield Town, Tarik Moore-Azelle who lists Arsenal amongst his former clubs and the loan signing of Cemal Ramadam from Ipswich Town further bolstering their talented squad.
Form wise Regent have won 4 and lost 1 in their last 5, the latest result a 4-1 win last Saturday against Great Wakering Rovers whilst their hosts tomorrow have a record of won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 in their last 5 with their latest result a 2-0 home loss to league leaders AFC Sudbury on Tuesday night.
Regent dropped to 7th in the table on Tuesday night and have 61 points from their 32 games. A 3-2 win for Cheshunt, Tuesday took them above the R's on goal difference although they have played two games more. Maldon are currently 12th in the table with 47 points from their 32 games. The 21's face Woodbridge Town Reserves away tomorrow fresh from their Chell Trophy success on Wednesday where a 2-1 victory against Halstead Town Reserves at North Road took them through to the Chell Trophy Final where they'll face Witham Town. Their hosts tomorrow sit one place above the R's in 4th with one more point having played three more games. The two sides met at North Road in October with Regent winning the game 2-0, this game is also a 3pm kick off.
The A team face an away game at Bradfield Rovers Reserves tomorrow and will be looking to carry on from their 4-2 away victory against Little Oakley A last Saturday. The two sides met way back in sunny August on the first day of the season with the A team winning 17-0!! Bradfield lost last Saturday 5-2 at home to Earls Colne Reserves and sit bottom of the table whilst the A team are currently 7th. This game will kick off at 2.30pm.
